The Story Behind The Violet Lemon 🍋

Two dogs celebrating a birthday, wearing party hats, with a cupcake on a wooden stand, one dog in front sniffing the cupcake and the other in the background.

The Violet Lemon started with one very special little dog named Violet 🖤

She was abandoned on the side of a highway at barely five weeks old with her sister, and couldn’t even walk when she was found. The second we saw her tiny face on the Humane Society website, we just knew she was coming home with us.

Since adopting her, it’s been quite the journey.

Violet has a lot of health issues for such a young pup, and after meeting with a specialist surgeon, we were told we had “a real lemon” on our hands. Somehow, the name stuck and The Violet Lemon was born.

But despite everything, Violet is the happiest little soul imaginable. She’s silly, cuddly, stubborn, full of energy, and somehow always manages to keep going no matter what life throws at her. She became this tiny symbol of resilience, softness, and finding joy anyway.

At first, I started making dolls for family and friends to help pay for her first surgery. What began as comfort projects slowly turned into a tiny handmade adoption center filled with soft companions, little outfits, and personalities of their own.

Now every adoptive cutie is handmade slowly and with care, usually surrounded by fabric scraps, thread, a little chaos, and at least one (or two) supervising dog.

Each one is made to bring a little comfort, softness, and magic into someone’s home; the same feeling Violet brings into ours every single day.

Thank you for being here. Supporting handmade art means more than I could ever explain, and every little bit of support helps us continue caring for our sweet lemon girl 🖤
